Scotty is passionate and deeply invested in teaching music. It is his life's work and I really love what I do. His journey as a musician began as a self-taught guitarist who learned by developing his ear and listening to recordings, watching musicians and learning things along the way from them. Eventually, the desire to learn all he could led him to jam sessions, open mics, blues jams, punk clubs, jazz sessions, salons, cafes and public libraries. He researched all I could learn about music theory and how the mechanics of music worked and eventually taught himself to read music notation. After some time of working as a performer he felt he needed to get a more comprehensive education. This led him to study at some of the most prestigious collegiate schools for music in the country.
Scotty has many years of successful teaching experience and real-world experience from which to draw. He has recorded, toured and performed all across the country as well as in other parts of the world. He also has experience in stage management and artist management having spent more than two years working for the Grammy award winning folk trio group Peter, Paul and Mary. Scotty has been teaching for more than 15 years and looks forward to sharing his knowledge as well as his passion for music with his students.
